Just a quick note to let everyone know that I'm still around, just haven't been able to spend much time on here of late.

It was already pretty hectic this past month at work (integrating a 40TB SSD VSAN deduplicating backup system to our production VSphere clusters) but then I had to drop everything to run to Tennessee when Mrs. Tugboat was involved in an automobile accident.

She went to visit our oldest Daughter who lives just outside of Chattanooga and the second day there, got T-boned. Thank goodness she took my LR and not her car. The ride height of the Rover and its side airbags made a big difference in how well she survived. The LR is totaled but it protected my wife very well. She has lots of small cuts and bruises and nasty abrasions from the airbags and is sore as hell, but Mrs. T came through pretty darn good considering.

The 2014 Hyundai that hit her, on the other hand, is in the same wrecker yard as my LR and it looks like a beer can that went through a shredder and then got stomped.

The 17 year old girl that hit her was texting and driving while intoxicated and ran a stoplight. She had a BAL of .14 at 2:30 in the afternoon on a weekday! The girl had to be airlifted to the hospital that my son-in-law works in the ER at and according to him, she is still in the hospital recovering from some pretty serious injuries.

From what we were told by one of the investigators, the girl took the car without permission while her parents were at work and had a suspended license. Apparently this is not the first time this girl has been in hot water with the law. I feel sorry for her parents...

Anyway, we are both back home and I should be around and contributing again.

That and looking for a new ride...Sad
Sorry to hear about the accident. I hope that your wife and the other girl make a speedy recovery.

On a different note, I would have a Land Rover if I could. I love those things. A buddy has an LR3, and it's just great. Will you be getting another LR, or something else?
Very sorry to hear about this misfortune. Thank God the 'girls' are ok too!!
Bought a 2015 LR4 Program Vehicle today with 4800 miles and just about loaded, option-wise. Saved about $6500 off of sticker by going that route. I was just going to go look and he had just put it up for sale yesterday and it wouldn't have lasted very long if I waited. It was driven by the Baton Rouge dealer's Sales Manager since February and looks like brand new.

I miss my 2009 LR3 already though. It had more power. And it was paid for.

At least I don't have to drive the Government Motors Impala from Enterprise any more...LOL!
hey my dad drives a Gov Motors Impala Wink!

Agent "drives a Ford" Dee
Cool
I used to drive a GM Malibu, before getting T-boned by a careless bitch running a red light. I LOVED that car! Haha. Congrats on the new purchase. Hopefully the other person's insurance will pay something out.
My insurance company already paid my claim 100%, no deductible. It's up to them now to collect from the other driver.

Of course a $2m Umbrella Liability policy and Homeowners with them also helps...

Liberty Mutual ROCKS!

Oh, and GM was a great company until the US Gov got involved in their affairs...

I respect the heck out of Ford Motor Company for playing the downturn like they did and not accepting a Gov. Bailout. My '49 Ford Pickup is testament to the longevity of the brand (with the exception of some really crappy vehicles in the 80's).

You and I both (and Dee too, as he's also a Ford man)!! Ford played their cards well and have continue to do the right things and concentrate more on profitability and great products rather than just trying to bulldoze the competition... like the Government Motors Corpse does.
Funny thing, Ford licenses/provides the engines and most of the drive-train these days for LandRover vechicles... Glad they got away from the Jaguar and BMW Crap engines. My 2002 LR Discovery wouldn't go 2 months without something breaking/falling off/blowing up.

I think you mean TATA Motors. I used to work for TCS, their IT arm of the empire.
Yes, stupid autocorrect. I love "tata" motors. Another word for boobs!!! Look at her tatas!!
I just got back from an AirWatch conference in Atlanta. 3 days of classes/demos and speakers. The best one, Adam Savage of Mythbuster's fame. He was AWESOME!
That's fantastic!

And other superlatives!!!

With even more excllamation marks!!!! !!! !!! !!!
Someone asked him what the favorite part of his job was, his direct quote: "I get to blow shit up"
