RE: *sniff* love that new car smell - Agent Dee - 05-11-2014

Minor update, as you may or may not know the sound system in the car was not working since the day I got it home. One of the things I did when I got the temp tag was take the car to my audio guy (he is the only guy I trust when it comes to the audio systems of my cars). He found out that it was a bad fuse under hood which he replaced but I realized on the drive home that it sounded well flat. My car has what is called the Shaker 500 which is a 500 watt system with 4 speakers and 2 8" subs in the doors as seen in the pic below.

I was gonna go back to the shop but I did not have the time so I cruised my Mustang forum and told them what was going on they told me it was another fuse that controls the amp that runs the door subs, I checked it and sure enough it was bad I put a new one in and now my subs thump and the music in the car (even the radio) sounds a LOT better so now I have tunes for when I go to Buffalo at the end of the month.

Well I got some 'good news' today, I found out that after I go to my verification inspection on the 27th they will mail me my title (which is needed to register a car/truck/etc in the state of NY). I thought they were gonna give me my papers I sent to Albany with a letter/document saying I am good to go to register the car, I asked how long it takes to get that said title, they told me 2 weeks or up to a month. what really sucks is I am going to L.A. for the end of June to early July. So if the title does not come before mid June I will NOT be able to drive the car till I get back in early July (mother fucker!!!!).

More good news, I sold my old car today so the new car is all paid off once I get the last payment (I am holding onto the car till I get the last payment) I will honestly miss my old 2004 Chevy it was a damn good car.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

My mustang passed it's inspection and now I am just waiting in the mail for the title and it should arrive in a week or two, here is hoping.

Nice Futurama reference. When the Professor would say "Good New Everyone" it was usually for something bad. I just learned that, after watching the show for 15 years.

So I guess that means you still can't drive your car? j/k.

RE: *sniff* love that new car smell - Agent Dee - 05-28-2014

You would be correct sir I have already parked it back in the garage. I am hoping the title comes BEFORE I go on vacation so I can at least enjoy it before my trip but with my luck in the whole process I would not be surprised if it arrives after I leave.

UPDATE:

I turned in my old tags so I could get the insurance off my old car that I sold last week. While I was at the DMV I asked if there was a way I could get a paper temp tag while waiting for my title they said no cause I need to show proof of ownership which I do not have as all my documentation was mailed to Albany in April. But they did say they can check the status of it via my VIN (vehicle identification number) and it said it is being processed and should be no more than a week. and since my trip to LA is a week after Father's Day I can hopefully enjoy my car for a bit before my trip (crosses fingers).

I just had to check. You purchased this car last September, 9 months ago. And you still can't drive it. This isn't a normal thing for NY, right? (serious)

RE: *sniff* love that new car smell - Agent Dee - 06-05-2014

Yes I bought it in September but I did not start the process of getting it on the road til March.

Even then, you're 2.5 months in. I can drive a car the day I buy it. Why would you wait to drive such a nice car?

RE: *sniff* love that new car smell - Agent Dee - 06-13-2014

as I said earlier in the post I had to get it verified that the parts that were used on the car when it was repaired (prior to me owning it) were not stolen. I had a slip from the dealer that had VIN numbers for the source parts. Once it passed the inspection (which was not even scheduled till late may!) I just had to wait for the title application I filled out in march to go through. but I have to say I have GOOD NEWS. As of this afternoon Natasha (what I call my car) has gotten NY tags on it and I am 1000% road legal and can now drive my car anytime I want.

Next, consider getting a 'coyote' racing V8 from Ford Racing Division!! Big Grin
750 horsies can do a lot for that chassis!!

RE: *sniff* love that new car smell - Agent Dee - 06-13-2014

Yeah it will tear it apart lol.
