East Europe mail order bride tours?

Like many guys I know, Ive always been very skeptical of the whole Russian mail order bride idea.

There seem to be many possible pitfalls. For instance, the woman might just show interest to get you to marry her just so she can get to America and then she might run away immediately. Or even if you seem to meet a nice girl online, and you email her, how do you know it's really her?

However, I read an article in some magazine a few months ago about a new industry of tourist companies that actually organize week-long visits to Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, etc. Under this plan, you pay for 1-week or 2-weeks lodging and they guarantee a "party" every night where you meet 20-30 girls looking for American husband. And then if you like one, and she likes you, you can go on a date while you're ther, to get to know her better.

To me, this sounds like a pretty good idea.

Anyone know anyone who has been on one of these tours?

I understand there is a similar type of thing in the Philipines too... and man, pound for pound, Filipino women are the most slim-and-stacked on the planet! They're super sweet, mild and true partners too... I have several friends married to Filipino women and all are quite the catch!

I must say though, I have been very skeptical about the whole Russian/Ukrainian mail-order bride thing.

Thanks for input. Actually I worked with a guy who married a Filipino woman over 10 years ago and they're still together. That may be the best way to go, because I think Filipino culture teaches women to be subservient to their husbands and not leave their husbands. Whereas, Russian or East Europe women are probably less restrained by such cultural beliefs. I've also heard South America women are quite subservient as well.

I don't like the idea of a subservient woman, but I am definitely a fan of any culture that teaches women that men aren't disposable and to stand by us when times get tough. So very different to our western culture!

Don't get me wrong, I don't want my wife to be my servant. The way I look at it is that a family is like a ship at sea, and there can only be ONE captain of a ship.
