2 Cisco boxes at each site, currently supporting 26+ virtuals with resources for about 10 more before we have to add another box. In the colo shot, right below the monitor but above the EMC boxes.

Gotcha. Are you one a Cisco UCS platform? We're on ucs at the office, pretty stable stuff. On another note, if I haven't said so, that is some beautiful cabling.

We are currently not using UCS, although when we do upgrade, you betcha we'll price it into any updates!

I personally had my hands in making sure the cabling looked as good as possible. I stood over and helped my guys and made them completely comb all the bundles until I was satisfied.

I have a guy here that can terminate like there's no tomorrow and his work was 100% on well over 600 Cat-6 punch-downs. Never seen anyone have that good of record, especially using stiff-ass Cat-6. I hate terminating that stuff!

Bone, that floor LOOKS really pretty and Star Trek-ish, but in reality, is a royal pain in the ass!

The original specifications were for putting normal server room grade white composite panels in, but when our building project manager and the architectural designers got ahold of it, they decided to install this really neat clear Lexan floor. We knew nothing about it until the installers had over half of it down. Can you say "Van De Gaaff Generator"?

They put an anti-static coating on the Lexan tiles this past Friday and even copper bonded a few perimeter panels, but it STILL knocks the crap out of you when walk about 6' on it and then touch anything remotely resembling a ground.

Anyone working in that room HAS to wear an anti-static wrist band and connect to a known bonded ground before even THINKING about touching the hardware. I personally zapped the hell out of a cheap 12 port Netgear switch we had in there temporarily when I was trying to plug in a patch cable in a tight spot and discharged a static bolt into an empty port.

Killed that port deader than hell.

Imagine if that was one of my $7000 4800 series Avaya POE Switches!

Damn 2020 to hell!

I've not been very active the last few months, stopping in just a few times since October.

A few of you know about my skiing accident back in 2007 where I fractured C-1 and compressed 3 other discs in my neck and didn't realize I had done it until 5 weeks later.

Well, it finally caught up with me and at the beginning of November, this happened:

And I really thought I was going to have a real "Frankenstein's Monster" type of scar, but as of today, it's barely visible.  Of course I'm not going to have a chance in hell with getting through Airport and Government metal detectors anymore without getting the wand...
